Symbolism:
The 3 Wise Monkeys comes from Buddhist and Asian proverb. Its imagery portrays the lesson of avoiding negative thoughts and actions to live a positive life.
"see no evil, hear no evil, speak no evil."
In the West, its imagery is often used to symbolize/criticize turning a blind eye towards corruption by staying willfully ignorant.
Creative Direction:
This 3 faced pendant features the 3 Wise Monkeys under my own take to make work as a pendant. The representations of the monkeys are merged under a single 3 faced being, with a singular tail to hold the bail and chain. You can spin the piece to whichever wise monkey you'd like to face during wear. (Or fidget around with) Each monkey has a unique expression and visual representation to differentiate them.
